POLITICS AND FOOD THE PERFECT BLEND FOR LAUNCH OF WEXFORD FLEADH ARTISAN FOOD HALL

Minister of State for the Department of Justice James Browne TD and Wexford’s Finest Food Ambassador Celebrity Chef Kevin Dundon joined forces to officially open the ‘Wexford Fleadh Artisan Food Hall’ as part of the 2024 Fleadh Cheoil last Thursday 8th August 2024 at the Wexford Presbyterian Church on Anne Street, Wexford.

Speaking at the event Minister of State for the Department of Justice James Browne TD spoke about the importance of Wexford food production as a key driver to the local economy. The Minister acknowledged Wexford County Council and Wexford Local Enterprise Office for their role in supporting the growth of the food sector in Wexford. The Minister congratulated the Wexford Food Producers Network for creating this bespoke event which he said was a wonderful showcase of Wexford food to the 700,000 visitors that have come from across the island of Ireland and overseas to the 2024 Fleadh Cheoil in Wexford this week.

One of Ireland’s most beloved international Celebrity Chef’s, author of several cookbooks and Managing Director of Dunbrody House and Cookery School, Kevin Dundon took to the stage to congratulate the Wexford Food Producers Network on the success of this event.Kevin Dundon spoke about the abundance of incredible food produce being made here in Wexford and in particular identified the fact that our coastal location has a huge impact on this. He highlighted an example of the recently launched Wexford Sea Salt, which is produced from the coastal waters off Cahore Point and solar evaporated to produce a mineral rich sea salt. Wexford Sea Salt is a truly unique accompaniment which enhances meats, seafood and vegetarian dishes and is fast becoming a recognised brand.

This event is hosted by the Wexford Food Producers Network with support from Wexford County Council and Wexford Local Enterprise Office. The event is one of the many highlights planned during the forthcoming 2024 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.

The Wexford Food Producers Network provides a centralised member led and member representative organisation with a core remit to promote and support the business of Wexford food. The organisation has over fifty members who are Wexford based sole traders, SME’s and large companies. Their continued aim is to support Wexford food producers, to build a sustainable food industry and to contribute significantly to the Irish economy on a local, regional, national and international level through the export markets.
